Dish Network.... You are DEAD to me!

Hoard

So... here's the deal. For some time now ( over a year ) I (along with many others) have received AMC through Dish Network. I know it's been over a year because I have shows on that channel that I've been DVR'ing for at least that long.. if not longer. Like many others I've recently gotten into a show called The Walking Dead. I'm sure many of you have heard of it. It quickly became one of my favorite shows.

Tonight however was the season finale of the show and after grabbing a snack and getting comfortable on the couch, we realized that the channel wasn't coming in. I checked our channel listing and sure enough according to the channel card we got... it said we are supposed to have that channel. Well... I log on to their website and sure enough, they moved it to the higher level trying to get customers to pay more.

Coincidence... I think not. The popularity of The Walking Dead has grown immensely over the past few weeks. It was picked up for more seasons and so the execs at Dish figured that would be a good channel to pull last minute in hopes of getting a bunch of upgrades. A few problems though...

  •     They never sent an email or letter letting customers know they were moving it to a higher account.
  •     They just created a bunch of pissed off customers
  •     The completely blew whatever faith I had left in them.

All that being said... I've already called and canceled and will be switching providers. ( not saying to who, because that's not what this is about )

Dish Network... if by some small chance you read this. You suck. You really do... for the past 5 years we've had your service and it has always been great. However in the last year and a half, you have done more sneaky things than not. Our bill has gone up for no reason, you auto-renewed us into a new contract and now are removing channels.

Way to end a 5 year relationship with a huge slap in the face.

Lastly... please don't anyone spoil The Waking Dead for me... such a good show.
